A magnificent antique Chinese bronze vessel (bu) formed as two addorsed owls with archaistic taotie incised decoration designs throughout the bulbous body raised on 4 stout legs
Dating to the late 1800s, the bronze is superbly cast and richly detailed with the intricate zoomorphic decoration typical of the bronze age Zhou and Shang dynasties centuries previous. The vessel is life size and quite heavy, a very well made piece.
This piece is in great overall condition. As the photos show, there is stunning Verdigris patination to the whole piece. The bronze itself is very sound overall, there are some internal edging that has been lost over time through use however it in no way detracts from the visual beauty of the piece.
A stunning piece in original untouched condition. Hard to find another in this type of condition with this patination. Would look amazing in any Asian artworks collection or equally on a dresser or mantlepiece.
