A magnificent formed as two addorsed owls, with incised decoration to the plump bodies, raised on four stout legs
A magnificent antique Chinese bronze vessel (bu) formed as two addorsed owls with archaistic taotie incised decoration designs throughout the bulbous body.
Dating to the late 1800s. The bronze is superbly cast and richly detailed with the intricate zoomorphic decoration typical of the bronze age Zhou and Shang dynasties. The vessel is life size and quite heavy, a very well made piece.
This piece is in great overall condition. As the photos show, there is stunning Verdigris patination to the whole piece. The bronze itself is very sound overall, there are some internal edging that has been lost over time through use.
A stunning piece in original untouched condition.
