Here we have a delightful antique Chinese porcelain Laughing Boy (He-He Er Xian) figure, dating to the late Qing Dynasty period.
This example shows a seated boy resting on a red-glazed rock formation, his face modeled in fine white porcelain with a broad smile, arched brows, and painted red lips. He wears a vibrant yellow robe decorated with flowering branches in turquoise, green, and iron red. The figure is hollow with apertures to the sides and back, suggesting it may have been used as a joss stick holder or incense burner.
The piece is in very good condition with no chips or cracks which is quite rare for this type of piece. The potting around the hands are quite crudely done but there is no damage to the hands. The enamel colours remain lively, with some minor expected wear and age-related surface flaws that speak to its authenticity as an antique piece of porcelain. Please see all picture as they form an important part of the description.
A charming piece of Qing period porcelain with wonderful character and appeal.
