A stunning Antique Qing Dynasty imperial Bowl with Yellow, Aubergine and turquoise Green-Glaze Dragon incised decoration and Qianlong underglaze blue seal mark. The bowl is of shallow flaring form, the exterior is incised with two 5-clawed large dragons in pursuit of aubergine coloured flaming pearls, the wonderfully detailed interior of the boil is decorated with a coiled green dragon and pearl. This dates from Qing Dynasty (1736-1795) when The Emperor Qianglong, also known as Ch'ien-lung (see label on verso of bowl), was the fourth emperor of the Qing dynasty in China. Dimensions: 19cm (7½in) diam. Provenance: This bowl was a gift from the Balfour of Dawyck family to its subsequent owner. Having done some research I believe it was likely either purchased or gifted by Fred Balfour (1873-1945) who is well known to have conducted many expeditions to Asia through his lifetime. Condition: The bowl has no chips and a single tiny fleabite on the rim. The decoration and colouring of the bowl is truly radiant as can be seen in the pictures. There is some hairline cracking to the bowls interior as I have also pictured however when conducting the ring test, the bowl rings very clear and is giving a lovely bell like ring so the integrity of the bowl is very much intact and sound. This is a wonderful piece of antique Chinese porcelain from the height of the Qing Dynasty. It's a very rare piece and would wonderfully complement any Asian antique or art collection and would equally fit into any modern interior. You will struggle to find another! Â
